Air conditioning in cars is no longer a luxury accessory. More and more vehicles have serially mounted air-conditioning, thanks to which we can enjoy a refreshing blast of cold air, forced through the air vents into the interior of the vehicle, on hot days.
However, air conditioning must be taken care of so that it works efficiently with the arrival of warmer days. Use air conditioning in winter.
If the air conditioning is not started for a long time, lubricating additives may precipitate from the fluid and cease to fulfil their function. As a result, the ageing process of rubber seals in the air conditioning system is intensifying. From here it is only a step to the appearance of leaks through which the coolant can escape to the outside. So it is worth turning on the air conditioning from time to time, even if the external temperature does not encourage cooling down the interior of the car.
According to professionals, this should be done at least every two weeks and let it work for a few good minutes. However, this will not always be possible, because at very low temperatures the air conditioning will not start. After all, it is usually programmed that way.
When and where to inspect the air conditioning
Proper operation of the air conditioning system requires that it be periodically inspected at least once a year. Routine inspection of car air conditioning should not necessarily be done before the summer season. This treatment can be performed already in the spring before the heat comes.
The car should be returned to a specialist workshop dealing with cooling systems. There, the condition of the compressor and the cooling efficiency of the system will be examined, and, above all, the level of the amount of refrigerant will be checked. When specialists in the workshop find fungus in the system, they will professionally remove it.
Any faults and leaks will be repaired, and if serious damage to the compressor is found, mechanics will replace it.
